A Franciscan Community of St. Clare of Assisi

Welcome to our virtual home on the internet! We hope that your visit here will give you an idea of what our life is like as a community of contemporary women who follow the way of life established by St. Clare of Assisi 800 years ago.

Here you will get a glimpse into a day in the life of a Poor Clare.

We have had a presence in the Boston area for 100 years. Learn about Our historical setting of our Order on the local scene. Although you may not be able to visit us at our monastery in Jamaica Plain, MA, for your viewing pleasure we invite you to a pictorial tour of the grounds of our home and our chapel.

The larger span of 800 years of Clarian life is depicted in the brief survey of Valiant Women.

Many of our visitors have questions about us - several of these are answered in Our Cloister Grill FAQ's.

Clarian Women Research Project

We are happy to share with our viewers the resources gleaned from our research to provide you with a pathway of information about Saint Clare of Assisi—Leader of Women for her century and for ours— and about those of us who live her Franciscan Contemplative way of life as Poor Clares.
